Why a win alone is not enough
When you share only the win, people miss what you went through and what helped you change. You lose the chance to help them see themselves in the story.

The 5 R's: the 5 parts of an Attractive Transformation Post
Start with what changed, then go back through what happened and what you learned.
Why a small change is worth sharing
You might think: “You need a big result before you have a story worth sharing.”
And "transformation" doesn't just mean big results.
It could be:
- A mindset shift or epiphany you just had
- A change in values or identity
- A meaningful mini-milestone
Read from Result to Reflect. The first part shows the change, and the next four tell the story behind it.
What you will make
- ResultShow the real change your reader could want.
- ResistanceDescribe what was hard before the change.
- ReasonExplain why the change mattered to you.
- ResolveName what you actually did to help it happen.
- ReflectShare a lesson someone in the same situation can use.
Step 1 of 5
Result: what changed in your life or work
Pick a real change your reader could care about. A small win or a change in how you think can be enough.
Start with the transformation. What changed? What's the win or shift?
I am not a "Mr. Nice Guy" anymore...
Brain-dump 20 "Coolest Things" about yourself. Wins, traits, turning points. Then use them to share as topics when starting out.
Mistakes to avoid. Share the story & lessons behind the win or transformation.
Step 2 of 5
Resistance: what was hard before the change
Show what life was like before so your reader can see why the change mattered.
What challenges did you face before this? What was the internal/external conflict? Paint the before-picture clearly.
Hey folks, while I’ve had a super slow & “unproductive” 2023 so far, I am actually HAPPY about it (not kidding). The thing is, if this happened to me just 1 or 2 years ago, I’d have been extremely frustrated & unhappy as I’d felt guilty for not spending more time on my business or career instead.
Mistakes to avoid. Keep going through what you did and what you learned.
Step 3 of 5
Reason: why you wanted the change
Explain what mattered enough to keep you going.
Why did you push through? Who or what motivated you? What was the emotional driver?
I hesitated for weeks to post this as I was afraid people might feel it's insensitive. However, upon reflection and a talk with a friend, I realised that as long as my intention is to inspire and educate, I can rest knowing that I did my very best.
Not because I don't want to help people, but because life is different now. I have a baby, paying clients, a wife, which means time and focus is more precious than ever.
Mistakes to avoid. Keep your reason true. Put what you did under Resolve, and never make up why you did it.
Step 4 of 5
Resolve: what you did to make the change
Name the real steps, habits or decisions that helped you change.
What did you actually do to make the shift?
In the complete post below, I invested in learning and kept going after an embarrassing moment.
Mistakes to avoid. Remember that one person's habit may not suit everyone.
Step 5 of 5
Reflect: what you learned that could help your reader
Share the lesson behind the win so someone in the same situation can use it.
What did you learn? How have you changed as a person? What advice would you give to someone facing the same situation now?
2. Be transparent with what you can do and what you can’t do. Never aim to be someone you are not. Especially in today’s world where everybody is trying to sell you how great they are, be authentic and share what you are good at, and what you aren’t good at. The world is skeptical enough as it is, don’t contribute to it by trying to portray yourself as knowing everything. Remember: you are not here to serve everyone, and that’s completely ok.
Mistakes to avoid. Connect your lesson to your reader so they can use what you learned.
The 8 mistakes to avoid
Sharing a result your reader does not care about.
Waiting for a big money result and overlooking a small win or a change in what matters to you or how you act.
Announcing the win without sharing how it happened.
Leaving out what life was like before or hiding the struggle people could relate to.
Mixing up why you kept going with what you did.
Naming a change without explaining the decisions or habits that helped it happen.
Ending with the struggle or the win and leaving out the lesson.
Making the whole story about you without showing how it helps your reader.
The 6 things to check in your post

One post with all 5 R's marked
I want you to see where each part belongs in one complete post.
This post opens with the struggle, and the result lands later.
My friends thought I was making a huge mistake. In 2016, I graduated with a Banking & Finance degree, but it didn't matter. Because instead of joining a high paying role in a bank or fund management firm like many of my peers, I chose to join the startup scene instead. Not only did it come with lower pay than what I originally expected, but the role would also be uncertain and messy too. And while many of my friends were on their way to earning huge sums with their cushy jobs & careers through the years, I took multiple pay cuts, job switches, and had to struggle with massive routs of self-doubt and nervousness too.
In addition, I took even bigger risks by investing a huge chunk of my salary into programs, courses & coaching, with the risk that it’d never work out.
And I remembered many years ago, while catching up with an old group of friends, someone sarcastically asked me this: “How? Become millionaire already or not?” I wasn’t - and was so freaking embarrassed.
Thankfully, I did not let that episode stop me, and kept going.
Because if I stopped, I would not have been able to start a side hustle that allowed me to achieve a 6-Digit Income for 3 Years running while enjoying what I do each day, grow my portfolio to multiple 6 figures, and making a difference to >3000 people worldwide along the way.
Which is why if you’re currently “hustling”, working hard & struggling to achieve your desired goals & dreams right now, here’s my quick message for you: 💪 Have Faith, and Keep Taking Action - In short, don’t give up. 💪 Ask for help & support - You don’t need to do it alone. 💪 Get feedback & get better - don’t keep doing the same thing if you haven’t been achieving your desired results, it might be time to make a change. 💪 Surround yourself with the right people - is your social circle currently pushing you down, or pulling you up? And when you apply the above & keep going…it’s a matter of time before you get there. You Got This!
